About Our Shala
Mysore style practice is Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 10:30am.
Beginners are welcome and will be quietly taught a shortened and simplified portion of the primary series of Ashtanga. Arrive anytime between 6:30am and 9:30am for individual instruction in a group setting. Estimate 30 minutes to an hour for your first lessons. Students do not need prior experience or knowledge.
Please remain quiet and respectful of the teacher and expect to sweat. At anytime the student may request to finish and the teacher will guide them to a relaxed state. Think of it as a private with other students doing self practice in the room.
Led class is on Sundays from 9-10:30am. This is a guided class where the teacher counts all the breaths, announces all the asana names and counts the movements. This is a group class where everyone breathes together and moves together. This is a 90 minute class.
No one is expected to do anymore than they can and rest can be taken anytime during the class. This is an inspiring traditional class that will make you sweat and increase your heart rate. It is a truly magical experience. Students should arrive 15 to 30 minutes early to secure their spots. This class is included for members but is open for drop-in students. The drop in cost is $20.

At Ashtanga Yoga Milwaukee we hold space for yoga practice as a light in the darkness. We teach the traditional Mysore style as taught in Mysuru, South India.
Our instructors have made more than 10 trips to the Ashtanga Institute for study and both the instructors are current authorized level 2 teachers.
Ashtanga yoga asana and pranayama are taught in a gentle, sensible way according to the individuals needs. Our instructors practice before every class and teach from their direct daily experience. This practice has helped us and thousands of others with physical health, vitality, healing of injuries and diseases, physical and mental fitness and most practically with creating and maintaining emotional stability through difficult times.
If you are feeling lost, dis empowered or hopeless this practice is powerful medicine for you. If you are a long time yoga practitioner, teacher or athlete you will find the challenge of your lives within the primary and intermediate sequences.
We are here as a lighthouse in the darkness inviting the entire human family to discover and develop the science of Ashtanga yoga.
